Marie Thompson is a portrait artist with many years of study, exploring techniques, and experience in painting a variety of subjects.
If a picture speaks a thousand words, a portrait speaks volumes more. It
should capture the spirit and immortalize the likeness of a loved one
and can be passed on through generations, reinforcing family pride and
tradition. There can be no finer nor lasting tribute than the traditional
painted portrait. |

Marie is a mother of five sons and numerous grand- and great-grandchildren who have stimulated her talent for interpreting life and nature. PORTRAITS now take the priority over all. The work can be done from photos and/or life or a combination of both. Awards have been numerous in local, regional and national shows. Artists of renown have contributed much to her success. Portraits have included people from all walks of life, both young and old: TV and movie personalities, corporate officials, private citizens, champion horses and family pets. Posthumous portraits are also available. Prices vary according to specific client needs and subject involvement. |
Artist Statement:
I find portraiture to be the greatest challenge of all painting that reaches far beyond technical experience and outward appearances. The artist must also capture that essence of the spirit as well. An in-depth study of the old masters works also furthers the ability to execute the traditional portrait. However, individual creativity is best expressed by one's own experiences and perseverance.
